These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Try Counselling website and counselling services provided by Vicki Miller ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

About Our Services

Counselling Services

Try Counselling provides Emotional Therapeutic Counselling (ETC) services to adults seeking support with mental health and emotional wellbeing. Our services include:

  • Individual counselling sessions (50 minutes)

  • Initial consultation (20 minutes, free of charge)

  • In-person sessions at our clinic

  • Online counselling sessions via secure video platform

  • Support for anxiety, bereavement, trauma, relationship issues, depression, and other emotional concerns

 

Professional Standards

Vicki Miller is a qualified counsellor holding:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Emotional Therapeutic Counselling (ETC)

  • Licensed Homeopath qualification

  • Craniosacral Therapist certification

  • 30 years of therapeutic experience

 

All services are provided in accordance with professional ethical guidelines and standards.

Booking and Appointments

Initial Consultation

  • A free 20-minute consultation is available to determine if our services are suitable for you

  • This consultation can be conducted in-person or online

  • No obligation to proceed with further sessions

 
Regular Sessions

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in duration

  • Available Monday to Thursday

  • Sessions can be booked via our contact form or by telephone

  • We aim to offer consistent appointment times where possible

 
Cancellation Policy

  • 24-Hour Notice: Appointments cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice will not be charged

  • Less than 24 Hours: Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged at full rate

  • No-Show: Failure to attend without notice will result in full session charge

  • Emergency Circumstances: Genuine emergencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis

  • Our Cancellations: If we need to cancel, you will receive as much notice as possible and alternative arrangements will be offered

Fees and Payment

Session Fees

  • Individual counselling session: £55 per 50-minute session

  • Initial consultation: Free of charge

  • Fees are payable at the time of each session unless alternative arrangements have been agreed


Payment Methods

  • Cash

  • Credit card

  • Bank transfer


Late Payment

  • Payment is due at the time of service

  • Unpaid fees may result in suspension of future appointments

  • A payment plan may be arranged in exceptional circumstances

Fee Reviews

  • Fees may be reviewed annually

  • Existing clients will receive 4 weeks' notice of any fee changes

Client Responsibilities

Attendance and Punctuality

  • Arrive on time for appointments

  • Notify us as soon as possible if you cannot attend

  • Understand that late arrival may result in a shortened session


Health and Safety

  • Inform us of any changes to your mental or physical health that may affect treatment

  • Take responsibility for your safety between sessions

  • Follow any safety recommendations discussed in sessions


Communication

  • Provide accurate contact information

  • Respond to appointment confirmations and communications

  • Inform us of any changes to your contact details


Online Sessions (if applicable)

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection

  • Find a private, confidential space for sessions

  • Test technology in advance of sessions

  • Have a backup plan for technical difficulties

Our Responsibilities

Professional Service

  • Provide counselling services with due care and skill

  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards

  • Respect your confidentiality in accordance with professional guidelines

  • Provide a safe and supportive therapeutic environment

Confidentiality

  • All session content and personal information will remain confidential

  • Information will only be shared in exceptional circumstances as outlined in our Privacy Policy

  • Professional supervision may involve discussion of cases (anonymized)

Limitations

  • We cannot guarantee specific outcomes from counselling

  • Counselling is a process that requires active participation from both parties

  • We reserve the right to refer you to other services if more appropriate

Confidentiality and Information Sharing

General Confidentiality
All information shared in sessions is confidential and will not be disclosed without your consent, except in the following circumstances:

Exceptions to Confidentiality

  • Risk of serious harm: If there is immediate risk of serious harm to yourself or others

  • Legal requirements: When disclosure is required by law or court order

  • Child protection: Concerns about the safety of children or vulnerable adults

  • Professional supervision: For professional development (anonymized discussions)


Records

  • Session notes will be kept securely and in accordance with professional requirements

  • Records will be retained for 7 years after the end of our therapeutic relationship

  • You have the right to request access to your records

Limitation of Liability

Service Limitations

  • Counselling is not a substitute for medical treatment or emergency services

  • In crisis situations, contact emergency services (999) or crisis helplines

  • We cannot provide 24/7 crisis support

  • We are not responsible for outcomes outside of our direct control

  • Website content is for informational purposes only

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of website information

  • We are not liable for technical issues affecting website access
